Accelerator Operators - TRIUMF
TRIUMF is Canada's national laboratory for particle and nuclear physics. Our facility utilizes a 500 MeV cyclotron and state-of-the-art systems for the production and delivery of low and medium energy sub-atomic and exotic nuclear particles used for basic and applied research. We are currently accepting applications for 3 entry level Operators who will be involved in the operation of the world's largest cyclotron that provides protons to the pioneering accelerated radioactive ion beam facilities comprising ISAC I & II. Reporting to the Head of Operations, the successful candidates will receive on-the-job training on a rotating shift schedule.
Our Operators are required to perform complex and diversified duties that involve primarily the operation and occasionally the maintenance and trouble-shooting of the beam transport and accelerator systems including electro-mechanical devices, cooling services, vacuum systems, power supplies and computer controls. The work is carried out in close cooperation with technical support groups and research scientists and sometimes involves activities in a controlled radiation environment. Documentation of activities and communication with maintenance support groups are also important aspects of the job.
Applicants should have a technical background in one or more of the science or engineering disciplines with good communication, interpersonal and problem solving skills, as well as an ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Preference will be given to both qualified technologists and physics undergraduates, especially those with demonstrated mechanical and or electronics aptitudes. Familiarity with accelerator control applications will be considered a definite asset, as will an interest in learning about the procedures, techniques and instrumentation involved in the delivery of proton and exotic beams, and/or an interest in nuclear or particle physics. The willingness and flexibility to work a rotating shift schedule is a must.

Driver / Shipping-Receiving (Part-time) - TRIUMF
TRIUMF, Canada-s national research facility for particle and nuclear physics, has a part-time opening for a Driver and Stores Associate who will work in our Stores, Shipping and Receiving department. This position is ideal for someone early in their career looking to expand their job skills. Duties are varied and may include, but are not limited to: packing small parts, washing vehicles, general cleaning, driving, customer service, and data entry. On-the-job training will be provided in other aspects of our department so that the Associate can fill in for vacation relief.
Applicants must have a valid driver-s license, a good command of the English language, and be capable of working in a computerized environment. Applicants must also demonstrate the necessary interpersonal skills required of a team member, and must have a good customer service attitude.
The successful applicant will be expected to work part-time on Mondays and Fridays from 8 AM - 4 PM, and full time Monday through Friday during vacation relief and other peak periods. There are no weekend or evening shifts involved. Hourly rate will depend on experience, and will range from $15.00 to $17.00 per hour to start.
